About Me

I'm Emerald Boyd and I'm a 7th year high school Special Education Teacher.  I love to help my students reach their full potential and see them become independent young adults.

Being a special educator is definitely not an easy job, but it's worth it. While being worth it, it's also hard as hell on some days. I noticed there is a huge need for age-appropriate materials for high school aged students with intellectual disabilities.  So SPEDucation was born to help teachers have access to resources to support our amazing learners!

My goal is to share what I have learned in my classroom (the good, bad, and sometimes smelly) to help other teachers feel more confident and ready to support students with disabilities in their own classrooms.
